21k what? pesos? ounces of gold? U.S. dollars flying off the printing press?

Your question is not complete. If you are asking 21K for a month, then it is a lot. If 21k is for a year, then it is very little.

In general without looking at the time period, 21K can be considered as a lot if you are using it for all the minor expenses.

Not enough to buy a house, but enough to get a mortgage or to setup a loan. 21k won't last you long if you don't have decently paying job

The 'k' mean 'kilo'. From Classical Greek , 'kilo' means 'one thousand/1000'.

So 21k means '21,000'.

So if the currency is US dollars or pounds Sterling(GB) then \$21,000 or £21,000 is a large sum of money.

Well yes, but actually no

It depends on your total expenditures, total assets, total debts and what you are comparing the \$21k to. IN other words, the answer to this question is relative.  It also depends on your goal for your standard of living.

Yes if you are very poor but no if you are very rich.
