Smelling things that are not there ?

Last year I had a flu and I lost smell, but I got it back as soon as flu passed away.

This year I have a flu again and i lost smell one more time. The difference from the last year is that I'm smelling things that are not there - like a smoke.

Can you give me some advice?

On the smoke issue, smoke odor from a forest fire can be smelled 40-50 miles away. Items exposed to smoke, will certainly carry the residual stink too.
