Is this how they have internet in Canadian hotels?

I remember years ago at a hotel in Victoria they only had one way to use the internet they had a computer in a part of the lobby for the guests to use and if a guest was using it other guests would have to sit and wait until they got off so they could use it. so people could see and watch what you're doing on the internet.

That was the way that that specific hotel allowed internet access, young sir.  It's VERY LIKELY changed since those days.  Many hotels around the world now have wireless (Wi-Fi) internet access or direct LAN connections within individual rooms.

The world has changed a lot since then. It wasn't that many years ago that hotels in U.S. only offered dialup access.
