Because of the TV shows that make it look like every criminal justice lawyer is a professional that earns over $200k a year, many .. .MANY people went into criminal justice.
There are not that many openings and people do not like the fact that they have to start in the Public Defenders office at what amounts to minimum wage and do the types of jobs they thought they'd have a clerk do.
So these educated lawyers have student loans, but cannot get hired for the ... maybe...10 openings in their city every year.
And they don't want to work in Family Law or for the non profits so they walk around unemployed and upset that the criminal justice system has failed them, too

Try liberal arts. LOL
Id imagine many of them have visions of starting at higher level LE jobs and refuse to be a plain patrolman like so many start off at.
The other answerer does not seem to know the difference between law enforcement and attorney.

I think it's criminal the way those people are treated. There is no justice in it.
