No.  Linux is a relatively solid OS for doing a lot of things.  But it is no better and no worse then Windows.  There is a learning curve to use Linux.  It is not as "user friendly" as Windows.  You have to make more use of the command line for doing common task.  But once you are over the hurdle, it is a decent OS.

Because so few people use it, it is more secure.  Nobody bothers to write a virus or a hack for Liinux because it would only affect about 5% of computers.

It is not the Windows is better for games.  It is that most games - and 99% of all other software - is only written to run on Windows.  So you can not run 99% of programs on a Linux machine without using something that makes it act like it is a (slower) Windows machine.

The main reason that people use Linux is that it is free.  As are all the programs that you can run on it.  It also runs well on older (an ancient) PCs.

There are hundreds of thousands of programs for Windows that have nothing to do with gaming! So your assumption is incorrect!

In what way would Linux be better than Windows? because it's open source? ... have some version of whatever Windows provided (like the right click or the Start menu). ... As for arguments like “yeah but games, yeah but office software” etc …that comes back to the ... Almost anywhere else you look mostly uses GNU/Linux.

Whoever told you that was wrong. Sure you can't game real well on Linux, but everything can/should work on Windows. Steam is trying to add a linux port though... try typing into the terminal sudo apt-get install Steam. You might be surprised...

Not true.  People use Windows for more than just gaming.  It is true that you have more control over a Linux system, since it's an open source operating system.
