Yes, except it's "places"-- plural.
Some verbs have to be followed by the -ing form. Some have to be followed by the infinitive. Some can be followed by either, and "like" is one of those verbs. Some can be followed by both but the meaning changes.
Also, you don't "get" people. You meet them.
