Obviously it's not "normal".  But is it something to worry about?  The doctor should tell you if it's dangerous.

Orchitis means inflammation of the testis.  Here is something the doctor won't think of but will probably help a lot and can't hurt.

Take a cold pack and ice the testis for 1 minute, let it warm up again for 5 or 10 minutes, Ice for 1 minute, let warm 5 or 10 minutes, and ice for 1 minute.  Do this several times a day.  Do not keep the ice on too long.  The point of this is that the alternating warm and cold will draw lymphocytes to the area and speed up healing.  Keeping ice on it too long will numb the pain but you have to let it warm up again to give it a chance at healing.  Good luck.
