It has been found that when the chemical bond between iodine atoms in I2 is formed, 151 kJ is released per mole of I2 formed. What is the wavelength of light that would be required to break chemical bonds between iodine atoms?

    E = h*nu = hc/lambda, 

    and E = (151000 J)/(6.022 x 10^(23)) = 2.5075 x 10^(-19) J.

    Then lambda = [(6.626 x 10^(-34) J*s)(3.00 x 10^8 m/s)]/[2.5075 x 10^(-19) J]

    = 793 nm.
