Why would the same program (same updated version) on two different computers use different amounts of memory?

My PC is running discord and uses between 90-100MB of memory while running and my buddy is using almost 200MB while running. What would cause this to occur and how would I help him fix it?

P.S. This same thing is happening with other apps as well. For example: Windows defender, adobe, etc...

Check the size of Virtual Memory.
