People not washing hands, cleaning areas properly, not wearing PPE or masks , not socially distancing, and some of it could just be fate or God or just plain statistics and dumb luck.

Young people are to blame. Society is soft on them. And I'm not talking about young unemployed people who are trying to find work. I'm talking about the disruptive, neighbour disturbing scumbags who CHOSE not to work and instead live in their bedroom all day and night. They are responsible for covid. The government is soft on them, and so they do no take the government seriously.

Due to the SHORTCOMINGS of the government!

"But it should have occurred to the government, with immense scientific expertise at its fingertips, that the threat of a dangerous mutation would be enhanced by the premature and excessive relaxation of restrictions in July followed by the failure to reimpose them until November.
The second line of government defence is to blame the public and pretend that the problem is people fecklessly flouting lockdown restrictions, as claimed by the home secretary Priti Patel, who inevitably concludes that the way forward is tougher rules enforced by greater punishments."

Because British people are still busy dealing with Brexit and the Bubonic Plague.

Has it? I’ve yet to meet anyone that’s had it, or anyone that knows anyone that has.

Because the figures are fudged to make everybody have the vaccine.

One reason is a government that lacks decisiveness and urgency and when it is forced to belatedly introduce stricter measures the messages it sends lack clarity and are ambiguous. Ambiguous to the extent that the prime minister's senior advisor's 530 mile return journey to his parent's home for childcare for his son was deemed to be within the rules. Now there are far too many people interpretting the rules liberally or, like the prime minister's father, just ignoring them.
Another reason is the new, more contagious, variant of the virus. That was identified when the reason why COVID cases has soared in the South East was investigated but by then it had taken hold
