can doctors tell when a patient is depressed?
If the patient presents looking outwardly put together, nice clothes, hair in place, nice shoes, smiles genuinely appears confident, can doctors sense a patient's depression and sadness under all of the charade?? Are doctors good at reading patients
?? If a patient acts overly content to mask the depression and despair, can they sense it anyways since they are used to meeting all sorts of patients

Apparently not. It appears my state health department requires physicians to ask (Every time I have a followup).
"Do you feel depressed? Have you had suicidal thoughts?"

The eyes of depressed people do not glitter and assuming that anxiety is present the pupils are widened.
