If you took a Covid test and test negative, is it still safe to end your quarantine early?

  • In my area if you get a negative result, you don't have to quarantine for the entire 14 days. Depends on what laws / rules your health department has set up, so check them out. You have a negative test, you don't have it. But that doesn't mean you can't get covid if you're negative. So keep staying safe.

A co worker of mine was exposed. He received negative results and he was back at work, when he sent his results to our boss. If you were some how exposed to covid 19 and you had a positive result, then you should quarantine for the 14 day period.

A negative test does not mean that you can not get the virus. A person can test negative today and get infected by covid tomorrow. So quarantine is wise regardless whether you test negative or have received the vaccine. We need a lot of people, about 200-million, to get vaccinated before there is herd immunity and we can stop the quarantine.

Talk to a doctor, I stayed through my quarantine just in case.

Nope.   Rules is rules.   If you have been in contact with somebody with the Virus, to make you go into quarantine, then in quarantine you must remain, for the time required where you live.

If you took the test at 7 days or later from being in close contact with the person and tested negative, you no longer need to quarantine.

** If you took the test before the 7 days period, you might not have enough viral membranes to test positive yet.

There are a handful of people who will still develop covid after the 7 days but it's small percentage.  In case you are one of them you should double mask and stay 6ft away.

No.  The darn virus still can get you.  Mask and distance until it is finished, later this year most likely.

No you have to stay in quarantine, then come out of quarantine and go in to lockdown. Still distance by 2m, but they might be putting this up to 3m. Then when you've had your vaccine, you still have to wear your mask and distance yourself. If you catch it again, go back to the first line and hope no one can see that there's no escape from this tyranny.

It can depend on why you are quarantining.   If you got COVID and test negative after recovering you can end quarantining.   If you got exposed it's useless to get tested within 5 days of exposure since it won't show up that quickly unless you already had it.  If you tested negative 5 days after you were exposed then you can end quanatining.  Unfortunately it just takes time.  Regardless it also depends on the level of exposure you got...  Was it more than 15 minutes in close contact without masks or just a brief exposure with masks in a larger room?       Makes a big difference....

Not before a minimum 5 days after starting, but it may be different in some situations, and could be breaking the law where you live.
