Even the Republican minority leaders of the House and Senate blame Trump for the Capitol riot and insurrection. Thoughts?

Both McCarthy and McConnell said Trump is to blame, and that Trump lied about “election fraud.”

words and speeches are cheap...........let's see the VOTES at the impeachment trial.

Mitch knows that if he  doesn't convict Trump, he will have to deal with TRUMPISM for 4 more years...and his constant bombast about running again.

PART of him no doubt wants that,  believing Trump might actually pull it off, and retake the White house........

but that means sucking his nutsack for 4 more years,  and Mitch is balking a little at that.

But we'll see at the trial just how MUCH he balks at that.

my guess is.....he'll hold his nose and vote to acquit again.

and then give lofty speeches about how "the proof" just wasn't there or some such BS.

Now that Trump's gone, and his Twitter-Twaddle has ended, they think that they can save their own butts politically by distancing themselves from the Mobster-in-Chief. They were complicit in the whole corrupt, sad show. They could have gotten rid of that monster a year ago with Impeachment I, and now they have to deal with the results of their lack of sack last February.

Now they're going to have to deal with the possible rise of a third party, which will split the conservative vote, and weaken them even further. There's reports that some GOPers were looking for pre-emptive pardons for their work on the attempted putsch on Jan. 6, before Trump had scuttled off to Florida. The Repugnicon party needs to purge itself before they get buried in 2024.
