Arya people get familiar with this word by the Sanskrit language when scholar dig into Indian history before that no one have ever heard this word before no europian, no Iranian and whoever claims own root to Aryan race thesedays. The irony is Arya word does not represent any race. As everyone knows that Indian people categories in more than 100 of different castes. But at the Vedic period there were only 4 caste existed. Let me explain the system of India to understand it better. 1. Brahman (Priest caste) - who were gave birth by mouth of God Brahma. 2. Kshatriya (Royal caste) - who were gave birth by Brahma's Arm, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna were belongs to this caste, Buddha also belongs to this caste but Buddha clearly declined himself of incarnation of Lord Vishu  3. Vaishya (Trader+Accounting caste) - who were gave birth by Brahma's Thigh. 4. Shudra.

    _ Clear?

Whenever a men/women talk to a priest caste - he/she added first Brahman then he completes his sentences. In this manner whenever a person talk to a kshtriya caste - the person first added Arya then he/she completes own sentences. In same manner have other words for rest of caste.

No doubt people likes the word Arya/Aryan very much and made it a race.

I always find this topic silly.

The concept of Aryan crosses ancient alphabets and long forgotten languages. But no one was talking about people from India.

Indo is a Roman spelling of Endo. It means "with in". It has nothing to do with Asia.

Zirp and Sophia are correct!  Plus, you could easily include part of the people now inhabiting India.

In ancient INDIA, the term ā́rya- was used by the Indo-Aryan speakers of the Vedic period as a religious label for themselves, as well as the name of the geographic region which was known as Āryāvarta, where the Indo-Aryan culture emerged.  (That was in a portion of north-central India.)

Similarly, in ancient IRAN, peoples used the term airya- as an ethnic label for themselves and they also used it in reference to their mythical homeland, Airyanem Vaejah, which is mentioned in the Avesta scriptures.  (Nobody is sure where that was located...it could have been the same as Āryāvarta, or it could have been west of the Hindu Kush.

"Aryan" is a term which was originally used as a self-designation by Indo-Iranian peoples in ancient times.  The idea of being an Aryan was religious, cultural and linguistic, not racial.  The use of "Arya" as an ethno-cultural self-designation is only attested to among Indo-Iranian peoples - NOT among any Proto-Indo-European tribes (which is the link that Alfred Rosenberg fabricated to link the Nazis with their mythical Arya.

Sorry, Nazis - you were misled.
