Is this sentence grammatically correct?

As the many pigeons soared up, a different type of bird flew out of them and away from them.

Thanks!

"soared upward", not up. "a bird of a different species emerged from the flock and flew off on its own".

It is grammatically correct, however, the sentence is a little awkward.

As a flock of pigeons took wing, a bird of a different specie flew out from among the flock.
