Do house cleaners steal?

We just got one and I’m very scared that they will steal something, how likely is it?

Maids may be no more likely to steal from their employers than anyone else, but those who are so inclined have a unique opportunity to exercise their light-fingered tendencies. Cleaning service complaint sites are littered with anecdotes about maids disappearing with everything from lingerie to cash.

How would they stay in business if they stole from their customers?

restrict areas that they're not to go into, like an office or bedroom and keep all your valuables and personal info there under lock and key

There is always that chance so make sure you hire from a reputable company.

Some do. Most don't. Who is "we"? How did you

get them? Did they have references? Are they

bonded and/or insured? Maybe you can set up

    some kind of surveillance.

Unlikely since they generally want to and keep repeat customers.
