Why don't we use solar power instead of fossil fuels to stop global warming?

With Lazard’s latest annual Levelized Cost of Energy Analysis showings that as the cost of renewable energy continues to decline, certain technologies (e.g., onshore wind and utility-scale solar), which became cost-competitive with conventional generation several years ago on a new-build basis, continue to maintain competitiveness with the marginal cost of selected existing conventional generation technologies.

Rooftop solar with battery backup is become more affordable.  Retail prices for solar panels in China are now 20 - 25 cents per Watt and batteries are less than 100 per kWh.  I don't expect solar to come down in price much, but I do expect batteries to drop a lot with production capacity increasing.

It is disappointing to see that the US gave that leadership role away to China.   Thanks deniers...

Solar energy is direct light and heat absorbed from the sun by solar panels, photovoltaics, solar architecture, and artificial photosynthesis.

This technology is characterized as passive solar and active solar depending on how they capture, distribute or convert it into solar power.

Active solar techniques include the use of concentrated solar power and solar water heating to harness the energy. Passive solar includes orienting the building depending on the sun and the materials appropriate according to space and requirement.

The history of photovoltaic solar power began back in the late 1800s with a scientific experiment. The first PV silicon cell capable of converting the sun’s energy into power that could run electrical equipment was introduced in 1954, and by 1983, worldwide Pv production exceeded 21 megawatts.

Its environment-friendly and most of the people and consumers are satisfied with its product and introduction. The consumers are increasing as well as the market is rapidly growing with its advantages and disadvantages according to the geographic location and building orientation.

This page details the pros and cons of solar energy:

Rich fossil fuel barons know that renewable energy threatens their bank accounts, which they prioritize over the world.

Solar panels do not produce greenhouse gasses while generating electricity as produced by using fuels like coal and natural gas. Most of our energy comes from burning fossil fuels, a process that emits carbon dioxide.

may be because you need sunlight to make solar power , no good if you have a snow storm or power at night .

go for it get solar put on your home and disconnect from the grid get yourself your own wind generator. What you going to do when its dark and no wind?

Texas went well with out coal whos name is on that fuckup?

    That's what we should do.

Why?   I have documented in detail from peer review that warming either has no consequence or is good.   Here are the top 5:

If "green energy" could actually replace fossil fuels then it would have already happened.
