Wearing socks/shoes makes for a warm, moist environment that's perfect for bacteria and fungus to grow. Your hands are constantly exposed to the air, so no bacteria, no stink.

Bromodosis, or smelly feet, is a very common medical condition. It's due to a buildup of sweat, which results bacteria growth on the skin. These bacteria cause bad odors. Fungal infections like athlete's foot can also lead to bromodosis.

People don't tend to wear shoes and socks on their hands, and if their hygiene standards are what they should be, their hands are washed several times every day, not just once.
